Certifications: Certified Personal Trainer, National Academy of Sports Medicine. G.E.A.R Indoor Cycling Certification, AFAA
Favorite Workout: I like so many it’s hard to pick a favorite. I guess since I have been training with free weights since the 70’s I have to pick resistance (weight) training. But as a former competitive cyclist, indoor cycle is right up there along with HIIT.
Favorite time of day to work out: Mid-morning but if that isn’t possible, I won’t use it as an excuse, I will find time whether it is at 6AM or 7PM.
Describe your ideal client/class participant: Anyone eager to learn, improve their fitness and wellness. Someone who appreciates the fact that effort and time are needed to stay physically functioning as we age.
What is the most important thing you would want a new client/class participant to know about you? Going to the gym should not be a chore. In addition to taking the time and making the effort to lose weight, increase lean muscle mass or improve sports performance, it’s important to have some fun too.
What is your “go to” workout song? If you haven’t been to one of my cycle classes yet, you will learn quickly I like I a bit of everything. The guitar and music theory is a new hobby so I have a greater appreciation for classic rock. However, when it’s time to get out of the seat and wind it up, the BPM’s from the latest EDM/Techno tracks will keep you rolling.
Additional info: As you may have figured, Alison is my wife and I love to cook just as much as she does. We are passionate about nutrition and eating clean, no processed food. As for hobbies if I’m not in the gym, I’m likely working in my gardens or plucking one of my guitars. This may be uncommon for a Midwesterner but I also sail about 30-40 days a year either locally or on larger bareboat charter in some cool places.
